The power of producer groups

Learn how a producer group supports graziers in times of economic and climate uncertainty while improving regional soil health, water quality and biodiversity.

Isolation, drought and Meat and Livestock Australia's commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 (CN30) motivated a group of Central Queensland graziers to form the Barfield Road Producer Group (BRPG). The BRPG is an inspiring example of how producer groups can attract and create training opportunities for members in areas such as soil health, feed budgeting, first aid and drought resilience. It is also an example of how groups can implement best practice changes at scale, which can benefit regional soil health, waterways and biodiversity. Most importantly, it shows how producer groups create stronger communities that are capable of supporting each other through times of challenges and change.

In this video, founders Melanie Shannon and Melinee Leather share their group's journey from its inception in 2019 to its many successes today.
