Some of Thiago Barbosa's earliest memories are of growing food with his grandparents back in his home country of Brazil. He grew up to be a wanderer and a traveller, eventually moving to Byron Bay on the far-north coast of New South Wales, Australia.

It was in Byron that Thiago was introduced to permaculture farming and became fascinated with growing food in regenerative ways. Through this, he stumbled upon syntropic farming, a regenerative farming practice developed by Swiss-Brazilian plant biologist Ernst Götsch. Thiago was so inspired by syntropic practices that he returned to his home country and spent time working with Götsch and other experts in the field.

The syntropic farming method is an intensive form of agroforestry that combines land regeneration and food production. It was developed to provide yields of different kinds at all stages of succession and generate its own fertility and resilience.

Thiago spent several years working with Götsch and other syntropic teachers and farmers across Brazil before returning to Australia and opening his own syntropic farming consultancy, Syntropic Solutions.

Today he is on a mission to spread the knowledge of this unique farming system and teach farmers and backyard gardeners to apply the principles in different regions and climates around Australia and the world.

Syntropic Solutions facilitates workshops and courses across Australia, helping farmers transition operations of all scales to regenerative growing practices using the principles of syntropic agriculture.
