Ian Moss, or Mossy as he's fondly known in farming circles, completed his university training in Applied Science in Agronomy and Farm Management at the University of Queensland in 1989. After uni he headed west to test his new-found knowledge on large-scale cotton operations before setting up his first agronomy business and rural supply store near Narrabri.
Over the next 25 years, Ian built relationships with farmers, graziers and resellers all over New South Wales and Queensland, as well as with Australian researchers and multinational companies. During his journey, Ian found himself increasingly drawn to the pioneering farmers and graziers who were stepping out from the mainstream and were exploring and developing sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
In 2009, Ian purchased a run-down dairy farm outside Pittsworth, nailing a freshly painted sign to the front gate. That sign read 'F.A.R.M.', which stands for Farm Agronomy & Resource Management, a new business specialising in helping farmers transition to sustainable farming and grazing practices. The Pittsworth farm is integral to Ian's business, allowing him to experiment and trial new techniques and practices, so he can share his learnings with clients confidently.
Today, that once run-down dairy farm is a thriving, drought-resistant oasis, and F.A.R.M. has grown into one of Australia's leading agronomy services. As for Mossy, he's determined never to stop learning, to never stop sharing, and to never stop growing.
