Dr Tim Heard has been keeping Australian native bees since 1985 and now has over 500 hives under his care. He is an entomologist and ex-CSIRO scientist, with dozens of research publications to his name.
Sugarbag Bees, Dr Heard's company, provides hives for stingless bees, products, services and educational resources, as well as offering workshops and seminars on native bees in Queensland and New South Wales. The company partners with universities to conduct research and offers professional advice on crop pollination.
He is also the author of the award-winning and bestselling guide to keeping Australian native bees, 'The Australian Native Bee Book'.
