Dalene Wray grew up in Birdsville, in remote western Queensland. Her upbringing in the Outback gave her strong connections with the local cattle industry and a solid understanding of the work that goes into producing premium, organic beef for the export market.

Dalene's childhood in the Outback also made her passionate about elevating Indigenous voices and working towards reconciliation in the beef industry.

In 2004, she started working for OBE Organic, an Australian organic beef export company, and has since worked almost every role there, including overseeing production at a processing factory. Her family is a major producer for OBE Organic, with her father, David Brook, the company's co-founder & chairman.

Despite growing up in a tiny town over a thousand kilometres from the closest city, Dalene has spent half her working life internationally, including six years in Hong Kong, where she expanded OBE Organic's sales into Asia and the Middle East. While based in Hong Kong, Dalene regularly worked with importers in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.

Dalene, her husband Michael and their three children returned to Australia and have been based in Brisbane since 2015.
