Born and raised on his family property, Hanaminno, in Boorowa, New South Wales, Charlie Arnott's deep connection to the land and his passion for farming developed early on. After completing his education, he returned to Hanaminno to continue the family farming tradition. Over the years, he has transformed the property into a model of regenerative and biodynamic agriculture, focusing on improving soil health, biodiversity and overall ecosystem resilience. His methods emphasise working with natural processes rather than against them, promoting a balanced and sustainable approach to farming.
Charlie is not only a practitioner but also one of Australia's leading and most recognisable advocates for rethinking our relationship with agriculture. He is actively involved in sharing his knowledge and learning from others via his on-farm workshops, consultancy services and popular podcast series. His goal is to inspire other farmers to adopt new - and sometimes age-old - practices, demonstrating that such methods can improve environmental outcomes, farm profitability, and animal and community wellbeing.
Recognised for his achievements, Charlie has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to agriculture and sustainability, including the prestigious Bob Hawke National Landcare Award. This award acknowledges a person who demonstrates a remarkable commitment to caring for the land, champions better practices and gives their time to share knowledge with others.
