Melanie Groves is a writer at Growing Country. She has spent her life working in and around the agriculture industry, starting as a child picking and packing mangoes and lychees on her family's tropical fruit farm in Central Queensland.
For more than 5 years Melanie was a rural reporter for the ABC, covering a range of subjects, from algae farms to some of the biggest sheep and cattle stations in Queensland. She has also developed an interest in international agricultural practices, having worked with Nepali mandarin farmers on reaching phytosanitary requirements for export regulations.
Melanie's focus is on the connection between ag and the environment. She reports on best practices that increase productivity and biodiversity and shares stories of farmers' unexpected wins.
